The
LUMS PhD Programme in Computer Science offers the
unique opportunity for higher studies to individuals
with backgrounds in Computer Science, Engineering
and recognised disciplines of sciences. The period
of study for the Programme depends on the
individual's prior education and experience, and the
successful completion of the degree requirements.

be intimated to the student at the time of admission
In a quarter, students enrolled in the graduate
programme usually take 9-12 units. Each unit
involves 10 hours of class interaction in quarter.

In the first phase, the PhD student will complete
core course work, which will be followed by the
qualifying exam for the second phase. For students
of varied educational backgrounds, the fulfilment of
course work may take different time periods. In
the second phase, the student has to complete 36
units of graduate courses taken across various
research areas: Research

order to attain the PhD degree from LUMS, students
must meet the following requirements:
1. Completion of Course Work
2. Doctoral Research Thesis
3. Fulfilment of Residency Requirements
4. Thesis Proposal
5. Publications/Conference
Papers/Participation
6. Final Dissertation and Defence
