The MBA programme
comprises a two-year academic programme based on a
series of core and elective courses. Between the
first and second years of the Programme all
students are expected to complete a summer
internship.
All new MBA students
begin their studies at the University by joining
the Summer Orientation Programme (SOP) offered by
the Business School in August. SOP is to ease the
entry of students into the regular MBA by
providing fundamental skills enhancement modules
in communication, business mathematics,
accounting, computer applications and statistics.
It is also the first opportunity for students to
familiarise themselves with the ‘case’ method, and
modules in communication skills and techniques to
handle cases are also offered. While a compulsory
offering, the aim of the SOP is to make the
regular MBA a more positive experience for all
students.

In the first year, all
students are expected to complete 15 core courses,
each of 25 sessions. All students must take
three core courses in the second year; Business
Policy, Islamic Ethics and the MBA Project. (Non
Muslim students may substitute a course on ethics
for Islamic ethics). In addition, 11 electives must
also be completed. These electives are offered
subject to student enrolment and faculty
availability.
Students may pick from
four major areas of business. These include
marketing, accounting and finance, general
management and production & operations management.
In addition, the school also offers a concentration
in field of Information Technology Management (ITM).
To qualify for the ITM concentration, students must
take at least six courses from the field in their
total course requirement. Unlike the Masters in
Computer Sciences, MBA graduates with an ITM
concentration combine a managerial perspective with
the technical expertise.

For admission to the
MBA programme, preference will be given to
candidates with sixteen years of education. The
minimum academic requirement to be eligible for
admission to the MBA Programme is a bachelor’s
degree in any subject from a college or a
university recognised by the Higher Education
Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Students without a
bachelor’s degree will not be considered for the
MBA Programme.
Candidates, who have
degrees from such institutions that are not listed
with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), will
be required to get the equivalence certificate
from the Commission.
