The
MSc Economics is a one-year programme aimed at
applicants with a strong academic background in
economics. However, candidates who do not have an
adeqate grounding in economics are provided a
separate track that allows them to complete the
programme in two-year track requires candidates to
develop a suitable background in economics by
successfully completing a set number of courses from
the BSc Economics Programme.

In order to fulfill the requirements of the MSc
Programme, students will be required to complete
either 45 units of course work (11 courses), or
complete 37 units of course work (9 courses) and a
Masters thesis (8 units). Under the two-year stream,
students will have to complete undergraduate level
courses (45 units) in the first year.
Any
one of the following academic qualifications
satisfies the eligibility requirements for
admission:

Four
years of BA/BSc education from a recognized
programme
-
BA/BSc
(Honours) degree from a recognized British
University
-
Sixteen
years of education resulting in a masters degree
from a recognized programme
-
LUMS
BSc Economics majors can proceed to the MSc
Programme without formal admission provided
their CGPA in Maths and Economics is 3.30 and
above
-
Candidates
with fifteen years of education resulting in a
BA/BSc degree from a recognized programme. The
Admissions Committee will decide whether to
consider these applicants for the one-year or
two-year track
Applicants
need not be graduates in economics. In assessing
academic background, weight will be given to the
university/institution from which the candidates has
graduated. Some of the admissions conditions may be
waived, provided the candidates has outstanding
academic credentials. The MSc Economics Committee
will review and take the decision on such cases.
