Teaching Laboratory
SZABIST has installed state-of-the-art computer facilities,
unparalleled in any other laboratory in Pakistan,
that presently include the following systems:
An IBM
Netfinity5100 Server(SZABIST), Pentium III 933 MHz 512
kb cache, 512 MB RAM, 91 GB HDD, Dual Processor, P-III 933
Mhz (IASMP) Multimedia kit, CD-ROM, Tap Backup etc and
loaded with Windows 2000 Advanced Server, as Global Domain
Server Application and Authentication Server, LOTUS Domino,
IBM Netfinity Manager and a variety of other utilities,
Compilers and Application Development tools, DBMS packages
and CASE tools.

Netfinity5000 Server(ALPHA), Pentium II 450 MHz 512 kb
cache, 512 MB RAM, 36.8 GB HDD, Dual Processor, P-III 450
MHz (IASMP) Multimedia kit, CD-ROM, Tap Backup etc and
loaded with Windows 2000 Server, part of the Global Domain
Server (Marvi) Replication Server, ORACLE 8iTMStandard
Edition, Oracle 8i Jdeveloper Release 3.2.2, Oracle Forms
and Reports 6i, Oracle Designers 6i Release 4 and Repository
6i Release 4 and a variety of other utilities, Compilers and
Application Development tools, DBMS packages and CASE tools.

AS/400 system 150e, 64 MB RAM, 8.2GB hard disk with
built in Pentium 200 processor, Web Server, DB/2 Database,
RPG/400 (LE) and other software tools.

UNIX-based File Server (AIX) IBM RS/6000 43P with 64MB
RAM, 8GB HDD, Graphics Card 150GTX, CD-ROM, Color Graphics
Terminal and other accessories. This File Server is
purchased along with exclusive unlimited campus licenses of
a variety of system software, utilities, compilers and many
application development tools, including C, C++, XL FORTRAN,
XL Pascal, PL/1 set, Visual Age for Smalltalk, Wabi 2.0,
Open GL & GL 3.2, ESSL/6000, PEX & PHIGS, etc.

eServer xSeries230(Gateway)pentuim III 1GHz, 512 kb
cache, 512 MB RAM, 72.8 GB HDD, Dual Processor (IASMP)
Multimedia kit, CD-ROM, Tap Backup etc and loaded with
Windows 2000 Server, Communication Proxy / Mail Server
connected to a 512 kbps ISDN to provide fast intranet /
internet facilities on campus. and a variety of other
utilities, Compilers and Application Development tools, DBMS
packages and CASE tools.

Linux-based IBM File Server 310 (Marvi) with 128 MB RAM
Multimedia Tool Kit, CD-ROM, Tape Backup Gnome desktop
application, MySQL, database, Star Office, Apache Web
Server, Mail server (Send Mail) FTP Server, SQUID Server and
a variety of other utlities, compilers and application
development toolsop application, My SQL Database, Star

Six
Teaching Labs consisting of over 120 IBM NetVista
Pentium-III, 1 GHz, 128MB RAM, 20GB HDD, CD-ROM Drive with
Windows 2000 professional operating system. Ms-Office 2000,
Visual Studio 6.0, Visual C++, Developer/2000, Turbo C++,
Client software for OS/400 and other utilities installed.
All workstaions are connected through Giga Speed 100 Base-T
Fast Switches to a Print Server as well as to the internet.

Other
supporting systems/facilities include Local Area Network
with 200+ nodes, Routers (Zyxcle P-100IH), Laser Color
Printers, 24-pin Dot Matrix Printers, Multimedia Equipment
and a rich Software Library.

The LAN and
INTERNET access together agreement enables SZABIST to
provide high-tech computer science and software developement
and training and licensed software such as Microsoft Back
Office Server 4.5 English, Int't AE CD 5 Clients, Microsoft
Back Office Cal 4.5 English Intl. AE CD, MS Office Pro. 2000
English OPL A AE, Windows Server 2000 English Intl. AE CD 5
Client, Windows Cal 2000 English Intl. AE 15 Clients,Windows
Intl. AE CD 25Clt.
The 100 Clifton Campus is conncted to the Clifton Campus
with a 11 MB Radio Modem Link (Wave Rider) through which
resources inculuding all Servers, Printers, Internet, Email
and other accessories installed at the Clifton Campus.
SZABIST has Established this type of radio connectivity (11
Mbps) for the first time in Pakistan.

Server for Developer/ 2000 and Designer/2000, Microsoft
SQL Server, Internet Information Server, Microsoft
Transaction Server running with Windows 2000 Server.
Research Laboratory
The
Research Laboratory within the File Server Control Room is
equipped with high end Pentium-based 128MB RAM workstations,
Video Cameras and Video Capture Cards, Color Scanner,
Infrared Bar Code Reader, Recognition System and a variety
of software tools. This laboratory is capable of producing
high quality graphics.
Internet Laboratory
An Internet laboratory has been established with a Proxy /
Web Server and connected to the Communication Proxy / Mail
server and to provide fast Internet access.The Internet
Laboratory has Pentium III 733 MHz, 64 MB RAM PCs, Scanner,
Color Printer, Laser Printer and Dot Matrix Printing
facilities.
Library
The SZABIST library contains a rich collection of books on
most information technology and management sciences topics.
The library is also equipped with a Multimedia / Internet
station to help students explore information available on
CDs and the Internet. The Library also subscribes to the
IEEE / ACM Digital On-line Library through which SZABIST
students can access over 44 on-line computer journals and
magazines.
