LUMS offers quality on-campus housing facilities to all students. A total of five hostel blocks (two for girls and three for boys) are already operational. The on-campus hostel accommodation currently has a capacity to house 224 female students and 336 male students. With the completion of the sixth block that is currently under construction, accommodation for an additional 112 students will be provisioned.

Each hostel block offers a friendly and secure environment to its inhabitants, and is equipped with a wide range of facilities including laundry rooms, kitchens, TV lounges, and easy access to dining facilities and great food. The Library
The University Library is one of the most modern libraries of the region serving the students, faculty, researchers, and the business community around Pakistan. The library is reputed for its high standards of services, variety of up-to-date resources, and extensive use of information technology in all processes and operations.

Currently the library has a comprehensive collection of over 43,000 items including books, research material, company reports, pamphlets, government documents, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and United Nations publications, press clipping files, students projects, video and audio tapes, and computer software. Our CD-ROM collection has gone over 750. For advanced research in Economics and Management, the library has an impressive collection of unique primary materials, which has attracted scholars from all over the country.

The LUMS library is Pakistan's first to provide remote access to its databases over the Internet. It also provides web-based knowledge services, like links to the international business, economics, and computer science resources. The Library also supports research activities with the help of a subscribed Document Delivery Service (DDS by which documents are transmitted electronically via WWW).

The Library played a pioneering role in establishing a network for information exchange between nine libraries in Lahore, with the help of a grant from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Canada. It has established this network to develop bibliographic databases, containing references to the literature on public and business administration, industry and trade, finance, and other topics related to Pakistan. A Trade Information Section has also been established to support the Export Research Group and other projects on the campus.

Qualified and dedicated staff is available to provide effective and efficient lending and reference services, 7 days a week, till midnight (12:00 p.m.) on all working days. A help desk has been installed to provide information, referral and advisory services to readers. A specialized Business Management Information Service (BMIS) has also been established for the alumni, management executives and the country's business community. This has been designed to extend library services, through remote access, information bulletins, and lending facilities, at a reasonable fee.

Information Technology Support & Services
Teaching and learning at LUMS has always been rigorous, challenging, and technology-intensive. The Information Technology Services Center (ITSC) supports academic and administrative computing systems, and spearheads IT-initiatives to ensure adequacy of the technology infrastructure. LUMS offers a rich and diverse computing environment that effectively meets the productivity requirements of its students, faculty, and staff.

Each day, the LUMS community plugs-in to the campus LAN via 1200 access points spread across computing labs, academic units, student hostels, faculty residences, and the library. Those who are off-campus have secure, web-based access to on-line course support services such as enrollment, course assignments, grades, message boards, and e-mail. The campus network is based on a high-speed fiber backbone with Gigabit uplinks and dedicated high-end servers and switches. Access to the Internet is reliable, and fast! A 1 Mbps Internet connection makes web-based research a more viable experience, and a pleasurable one as well.

Computing resources in labs are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are a total of five general-purpose labs equipped with high-end workstations, document scanners, and high-speed laser and line printers. Recently, a new lab with 80 IBM-P4 (1.8GHz) machines has been provisioned as well. The University also hosts a dedicated Java lab with an Ultra Sparc II server and sunray appliances. Students living on-campus also have the facility to connect their personal computers to the LUMS network via high-speed connections provided in each hostel room. To improve access and availability, ITSC has recently introduced e-mail kiosks at the new library building. The kiosks have been a welcome addition for those looking for 'quick-service' terminals around campus.
